Why would I work with cashback sites, I would have got the sale anyway?
Yes. in some cases you may have got that sale regardless of cashback being present, but I think this can be said of certain activity in any marketing channel - brand PPC for example. However these types of partners are actually a key way consumers shop and consumers are actually loyal to cashback sites, they have accounts with preferred cashback partners and using these sites is a key part of their online shopping experience.
Similar to how I spoke about voucher sites, think about how a consumer accesses your product online - can they buy it elsewhere? Is your product totally unique? Cashback can help to tip a customer to purchase who is undecided and can encourage higher spend, we see AOV typically highest on cashback sites out of all affiliate partner types.
It is really important however to set cashback rates that work with your margins but are attractive to customers. Setting cashback partners up for success with a well thought out commission structure will enable you to use them in a strategic way. F
or example cashback sites can be great at driving higher AOV with a spend/save style structure (Spend £100 and get 10% cashback) or driving sales for specific product categories. For example a high stock category or higher margin (Get 10% cashback on fridge freezers).
